The film

An ideological chasm lay between my grandmother and my mother — between blind obedience to the kibbutz framework and an uncompromising individualism that questioned what was taken for granted.

The film traces their relationship across a lifetime: childhood on the kibbutz and in the children’s houses, adolescence, aging, forgetting and death.

After my grandmother passed away, we found boxes of material — 8mm films, negatives, slides. Everything was digitized, and a lifetime unfolded as files on a hard drive.

Hours of conversations with my mother were recorded, edited and shaped into the text that carries the film: a raw reflection on a long, tangled and quietly loving bond.
